We're Diego and Dr. Trista — a husband-and-wife team who've called St. Augustine home since 2003. We combine creative vision with strategic thinking to help local businesses and organizations tell their stories through video.

Founder & Creative Director

Diego moved to St. Augustine in 2003 and spent years as a Registered Nurse at Flagler Hospital (now UF Health St. Johns), recovering patients after open heart surgery. That experience fundamentally shaped how he approaches production today.

In high-stakes medical situations, you learn to focus on what actually matters, stay calm under pressure, and never sweat the small stuff when lives are on the line. Those same instincts translate directly to video production — staying mission-focused, protecting your time, and delivering results without drama.

Diego handles creative direction, cinematography, and editing. He's the one behind the camera making sure every frame serves your story.

Dr. Trista Brophy Cerquera

Strategy & Project Management

Dr. Trista just completed her PhD in Interdisciplinary Ecology from the University of Florida. But her expertise extends far beyond academia — she works as a policy advisor, leading a team that drafts policy for the U.S. Congress.

Her background in strategic communication, research, and project management means every production is organized, intentional, and built around your goals. She's the reason our projects stay on track, on budget, and aligned with your vision.

Trista handles strategy, client communication, and project coordination. She's the one making sure everything runs smoothly so you can focus on your business.

Our Story

First Sight Films started in 2017 when Diego transitioned from nursing to pursue his passion for visual storytelling full-time. What began as event coverage for local St. Augustine venues quickly evolved into something bigger.

Organizations kept asking for more than just footage — they wanted strategy, direction, and a partner who understood their goals. So we built a production company that delivers exactly that.

Today, we work with cultural organizations, nonprofits, and businesses across Northeast Florida. From the St. Augustine Amphitheatre to the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, we've helped dozens of organizations tell their stories through video.
